Here are my slides from the mighty meetup last night as a PDF. Keep an eye on http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23mightymeetup for updates on the other speakers and also on http://www.deerdigital.com/mighty/ for videos and such.

Please note that the demo probably won't work today – but you can grab the server code from https://github.com/stevenmilne/facewall and the client code from the link in the pdf.

Mighty meetup #1 autopsy

I’m delighted that the tone of tonights conversation after the presentations at #mightymeetup was almost entirely positive and forward looking. Whenever a group of people from any industry get together it’s too easy to slip into criticising clients, legislation, patsy kensit or a competing company which hasn’t shown up. Easy if your industry isn’t interesting enough. Luckily there’s enough meat on the bones of the web that we pretty much kept chewing through the evening by picking each others brains, enthusing about new tech, or praising 5am Saint. Looking forward to the next one already. Especially if the panel concept takes hold. Moreso if there’s more than one chef next time 😉

Mighty Meetup – Aberdeen’s first monthly web/tech micro conference.

Join us for the first Mighty Meetup where we’ll be talking “Emerging technologies for the web”.

We have some of Aberdeen’s most experienced and charismatic digital folk lined up to discuss everything from Fonts on the web to JavaScript. Whether you’re agency, freelance or a student this is a great chance to network and learn (and have a few beers whilst we’re at it!).

Kudos to James, Alice and the other sitcom web peeps over at Deer Digital for bringing together the ugliest bunch of speakers ever to grace a meet-up!
